Account Verification
Every player at Niagara Falls Casino goes through identity verification, confirming that a real adult entitled to gamble holds each account. The sections that follow set out what we verify, which papers you might be asked to supply, and how we treat those details once received.
Why do we verify players?
1.1 Account verification protects both you and the casino. It shows that you have reached 19, that the account belongs to you, and that the money moving through it is really your own.
1.2 Our service is offered solely in places where online gambling is lawful, and we follow Canadian rules covering age verification, identity confirmation and anti-money-laundering. These rules oblige us to know who each player is, find out the source of their funds and watch for any activity that might be linked to crime.
1.3 No deposit can be taken until your identity checks are done and your location has been confirmed. While your account remains open, we may ask for further checks later on.
When do we look at where your money comes from?
2.1 On some accounts we need to know the source of deposited money. This is most common when deposits are high relative to the circumstances you have told us about, when play patterns shift sharply, or when you ask for a large withdrawal.
2.2 Acceptable evidence includes recent payslips, bank statements that show the funds coming in, documents from the sale of property or investments, and inheritance papers. We always explain precisely which items are required and the reason.
2.3 Where play is at a higher level, we may also examine your overall wealth, meaning how your savings and assets were built up over time.
Do you check PEP status and sanctions lists?
3.1 We screen every player against lists of politically exposed persons (PEP) when they register and at intervals afterwards. A PEP is someone who has held a senior public office, currently or previously, along with their family members and people known to be close associates.
3.2 Being a PEP does not by itself stop you from playing with us. It does, however, mean enhanced due diligence applies: we may need details of where your money comes from, and the account can only remain active once a senior manager has signed it off.
3.3 Our checks also compare every player with Canadian and international sanctions lists. A confirmed match means we will not provide an account, and any balance held is managed according to our legal obligations.
What happens if verification fails?
4.1 If documents are missing, unreadable, expired or do not match your account details, we tell you what is wrong and give you the chance to put it right.
4.2 Until verification is complete, your account may be limited, and deposits, play or withdrawals can be held.
4.3 If you refuse to supply the documents we request, or if they show the account is fake, held in another person's name or linked to a player under 19, the account will be closed. Our Terms of Use set out when winnings from play on that account may be cancelled.
4.4 Where we have reason to suspect money laundering or fraud, funds may be frozen and we will take the action required by Canadian law.
Record-Keeping and Reporting Duties
5.1 We keep verification documents, transaction records and the notes taken during our checks for as long as Canadian law requires, whether the account stays open or has been closed.
5.2 Under Canadian law, suspicious transactions and some large-value ones must be reported by us to the appropriate Canadian authorities. We are prohibited from revealing to any player whether a filing has taken place, so we cannot discuss the matter.
5.3 Records are held securely and opened only by team members whose work requires it. How We Handle Your Data explains this in more detail.
Do checks continue after my account is open?
6.1 Yes. We keep account activity under continuous watch. Activity that may prompt further checks includes:
- deposits spread across many different payment methods within a brief period;
- deposits followed by a withdrawal with little play in between;
- payments from accounts or cards that belong to someone else;
- a sudden, sharp rise in spending;
- logins from unexpected locations.
6.2 We also ask for updated documents when your identification expires or when your personal details change.
6.3 Every payout goes to a payment method registered to you personally. You can withdraw by Interac e-Transfer, PayPal or Neteller, provided the name on that method matches the name on your account exactly.
Which documents do we need to confirm identity and age?
7.1 Photo identification: one current government-issued ID, a driver's licence or passport for example, showing your photograph and full name along with your birth date.
7.2 Proof of address: one document carrying a recent date and clearly displaying your home address and complete name, for instance a utility bill, a statement issued by your bank, or post from a government department.
7.3 Proof of payment ownership: for a card, a picture of its front side with the middle digits masked and the security code concealed; for an e-wallet such as PayPal, Skrill or Neteller, a screenshot of the account page displaying your name; for Interac e-Transfer, a bank statement that shows the transfer.
7.4 Selfie check: in some cases, a photo of you holding your identification, so we can match the document to the person using the account.
7.5 Use your account area to upload documents, or attach them to an email to us. Colour photos that are sharp and show all four corners are handled fastest.
7.6 If the date of birth on a submitted document reveals that its holder has not yet turned 19, the account will be shut and handled according to our Underage Gambling Policy.
How do I contact you about verification?
8.1 Email mail@niagarafallscasino.app with your account username in the subject line. We can confirm which documents are outstanding, explain why a check was requested or tell you the status of your verification.
